Koester House Museum & Gardens in Marysville, Kansas was was built by Charles F. Koester, a German immigrant who was a banker and Mayor of Marysville. The house and gardens are interesting, but we would have benefit from a orientation or even a guided tour to give context and help us understand it. There are very few signs with information within the house. Basically we paid our $5 and were on our own. There is also very little information on the museum's web site.

The house and gardens began with a two room house in 1873 and began to expand in 1876. It was renovated in the 1970s and given to the city of Marysville in 1972.

The gardens contain 12 white bronze sculptures and nicely surrounds the wrap around porch. The garden is open during daylight and admission is free. Admission to the house is $5 for adults and $2 for children.

While you are in Marysville, also visit the Marshall County Museum.
