Chiefseum - Manhattan, Kansas The Chiefseum in Manhattan, Kansas is Curt Herrman's Guinness World Record Largest Collection of Kansas City Chiefs Memorabilia. Curt, who calls himself the Curatorman, houses the collection in the basement of his home. He is delighted to share his collection and gives guided tours by appointment. Curt met us at his home and after greeting us, explained that the red coat which he was wearing was one of three known Kansas City Red Coaters jackets from 1963, the year the Dallas Texans moved to Kansas City, Missouri and became the Chiefs. The Kansas City Chiefs Red Coaters are the community service arm of the Chiefs. At that time, the Arrowhead logo faced in the opposite direction to what we are familiar with. The collection began after the Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl IV and 8 year old Curt received a Chiefs football on his birthday. On August 23, 2022 the collection was certified as the world's largest by Guinness, with 1,323 items. On the day we visited the collection in November 2024, the collection had grown to 1,672. Getting it certified is quite a bit of work, so it will probably be several more years before it is certified for a new higher record. The collection does not include Sports cards because they are easy to obtain and an entire collection can be kept in a single book. Curt is enthusiastic and interesting, which made our tour of the collection a lot of fun. We also learned many details about the history of Chiefs and the chiefs players & staff. Many of the items are rare and some are one of a kind and irreplaceable. Since the collection has become well known, people have often been sending new items for the collection.
