Altoona Mill Falls - Altoona, Kansas Altoona Mill Falls in Altoona, Kansas is on the Verdigris River, south of Kansas Highway 47. Very little of the flour mill, which was built in the early 1870s, remain. To reach this falls, go to the west end of 7th street and walk west across the field, about 200 feet. You will hear the waterfall as soon as you get out of your car.
