Baker Arts Center - Liberal, Kansas Baker Arts Center in Liberal, Kansas is in an attractive, former home in a quiet residential area. There are three galleries on the main floor, but all though the Center advertises that it has a large collection that includes original works by renowned artists, the galleries are all devoted to temporary exhibits, so you should not expect to see any of the art shown on this page. When we toured the Baker Arts Center, the galleries displayed a temporary Gathered Glass Exhibit of art glass created by local artists at Seward County Community College. This was the final day of the exhibit, which had run for about 6 weeks. Many of the pieces were quite attractive and the prices were reasonable. I wished we had been shopping for gifts! I would love to see more work from these artists. Since visiting the gallery, we have read that the permanent collection can be seen in the basement of the museum, but the docents present the day we toured the museum, told us that the temporary exhibits were all that are available to see and did not say anything about the permanent collection. Admission to the art center is $5 for non-members.
