Bill and Janet's Nature Museum - Hardtner, Kansas Archive page only: In 2023 Bill & Janet moved to Alaska and their collection has been transferred to the Cherokee Strip Museum in AlvaOklahoma. The Bill & Janet's Nature Museum in Hardtner, Kansas was originally known as the Gypsum Hills Nature Museum. Bill and Janet Smith have filled a couple of classrooms in a former school with their private collections of insects, taxidermy birds and a model railroad. Another classroom is used for etymology training. Others have memorabilia from the school and a gift shop. The gymnasium is still set up for use. The Hardtner School closed in 1974 when it was consolidated with the Kiowa and Hazelton schools. The museum opened in about 2007. The building is serves as the community center and appears to also be a business incubator which is also occupied by Star's Above & Beyond.
