Carriage Factory Art Gallery - Newton, Kansas The Carriage Factory Art Gallery in Newton, Kansas occupies a former carriage factory and attached blacksmith shop. A historic marker in the adjacent John Jacob Krehbiel Memorial Park tells the story of the blacksmith shop and factory. The Newton Fine Arts Association acquired the building in 1983 and began restoring it in 1993. The Gallery celebrates the power of art to spark the imagination,
to enlighten thought, and to provide enjoyment as we strive to integrate
art into the lives of citizens of all ages throughout south central Kansas.
The gallery is operated as a nonprofit and features the art of nearly 50 regional artists for sale, including a consignment sales gallery, a gift shop, and a collection of paintings for sale by Albert H. Krehbiel. I am impressed by Krehbiel's work. He was an impressionist who grew up working here in his family's carriage factory. I would love to see more of his art. I also liked the small amount of information that is provided about the factory and it would be nice if that could be expanded.
