Kanorado Community Museum - Kanorado, Kansas The Kanorado Community Museum in Kanorado, Kansas is a nice little museum a community with a population of 150. It normally is only open by appointment, but was open for several hours on Thursday - Saturday of the Big Kansas Road Trip. We were the first visitors of the day, and a lovely lady named Hazel Estes showed us the highlights of their collection, much of which had been collected by Hazel or her family. It wasn't until days later that we learned that Hazel was also the mayor of Kanorado. (Hazel has since retired as mayor) The museum serves as a local genealogy resource and one room doubles as a library. There is unusual wheeled goat which was used during initiations in the Masonic Lodge. As we we finished touring the museum grounds (which were once a lumberyard), Hazel was setting up some odd shaped stumps along with two signs. One said "Woodhenge" and the other had a poem which she wrote, No 'lintels' are found, no 'heelstones'
appear.
