The National Teachers Hall of Fame Museum - Emporia, Kansas The National Teachers Hall of Fame, located in Emporia, Kansas, was founded in 1989 and annually honors five teachers who have demonstrated commitment and dedication to teaching children. The first induction was held in June 1992. There is a museum, Wall of Fame, and the National Memorial to Fallen Educators, which was erected in 2014, next to a one room schoolhouse, a block away at the edge of Emporia State University. The museum is a resource center that tells the “story” of education through antique textbooks, teacher contracts and other artifacts such as textbooksm typewriters, ditto machines, toys, art supplies and curriculum guides. There are also diorama replicas of classrooms from over the years. The National Teachers Hall of Fame also has a "Wall of Fame" of bricks which individuals and organizations honor a teacher with a personalized brick on the wall, by making a donation to the museum. There is no charge to visit the Hall of Fame.
