Railroad & Mining Museum - Osage City, Kansas The Railroad & Mining Museum in Osage City, Kansas occupies a beautiful mission Spanish revival style depot which was built by the the Santa Fe Railroad in 1911-1912. The depot which has a number of items from the history of Osage City, as well as railroad exhibits and a model railroad. The back of the building is used for events. The museum has real potential, but little has been done in the past 20 years and more volunteers are needed to take interest and organize the exhibits. It it jut too much for the two people who are trying to keep it alive. There are no regular hours, but they will arrange tours by advance appointment. There are no exhibits about mining. Santa Fe Park is located across the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad tracks just west of the railroad depot and has a waterfall and picnic tables. We understand that the City has recently taken over the park and will develop it and a route connecting the park to the nearby Flint Hills Bicycle Trail, which passes north of town.
