Paradise Doll Hospital & Museum - Towanda, Kansas The Paradise Doll Hospital & Museum in Towanda, Kansas is really more collection, than museum. The approximately 7,000 dolls fill a row of sheds which have been attached to each other over the years. As you go through, there just keeps being more. The museum is owned by Barbra Bush who has made most of the clothing on the dolls and repaired many. She started collecting dolls with one which her daughter found in a garbage can in 1985. Within 18 months she had 350 dolls and was featured in an article in the El Dorado Times and she has been sent dolls by people from across the country. The museum opened in 1989. There are few labels or information about the dolls. One room has about 500 Barbie dolls. Although most of the dolls are for viewing, there are some available for sale. They still list hours on Facebook, but Barbara no longer goes out there every day. Visiting the museum is now by appointment only, The museum is not a good place for people who are sensitive to cigarette smoke.
