Quivira Woods Christmas - Shawnee, Kansas Most homes in the Quivira Woods neighborhood in northwest Shawnee, Kansas combine to decorate for Christmas. There had been several large displays, but since 2020 they have gone all out and many homes feature blow molds and handmade cutouts which are drawn freehand by Bill Barkemeyer. Many displays remain lighted until midnight each night and continue until January 5. The nearby subdivisions also have many homes with significant light displays and it is worth driving through the region. On Saturday December 7th, from 6-9PM, families are invited to drive through Quivira Woods, where there will be a live appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus as well as the grinch and multiple other christmas characters roaming around. Candy will given to the children and canned goods donations will be accepted for the De Soto Food Pantry. The DeSoto Food Pantry is especially in need of:
