Rocky Ford Waterfall on Soldier Creek - Hoyt, Kansas I discovered an online photograph of a waterfall at Rocky Ford Waterfall on Soldier Creek near Hoyt, Kansas. It is on the land of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and I contacted the Prairie Band to get directions to the falls. The small waterfall is in a nice peaceful location, but didn't photograph very well - in part because of a large dead tree which covered one end of the falls when these photos were taken in the fall of 2010. The Soldier Creek waterfall is accessible from "I Road" by way of 126 Road. There is a driveway on the east side about 1/10 mile north of the Soldier Creek Bridge. Go in 1/10 mile and take the 1st right (Corn field). Continue in though the trees back 1/4 mile to another field edged with trees where you will see a dirt path going down the long steep bank. There is a rope to help you go down and back up the steep muddy bank. The Property is USA/BIA trust Allotment #257 (Indian Ground). If is too muddy to drive, go 1/10 mile south of the bridge & walk east to the sound of the waterfall. There is no creek level access this way just the view from the top of the creek bank.
