Stockyard Restaurant - Fredonia, Kansas The Stockyard Restaurant in Fredonia, Kansas shares a building with the Fredonia Livestock Auction. The lunch menu is sandwich oriented and is available Tuesday & Friday, but Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening Stockyard Restaurant lives up to its name and is a steakhouse. Although we have dined at Stockyard Restaurant several time over the years, only 2 visits are recent enough (2020) that we are including them in the review. The first visit was a Tuesday lunch, when the menu was pretty limited (see below) and the food, while fine, did not stand out. We were more impressed with a Friday supper. When you are there in the evening, they bring a nice sized loaf of your choice of bread (white, rye or Bavarian) before the meal. We went with the Bavarian, which was a very good, warm sweet brown bread (probably whole grain) with honey butter. I'm not that much of a bread person, but was very impressed with theirs. We had beef tips with baked potato & mixed vegetables and rib eye with salad and ranch fries (large fresh cut, fried potato wedge. The rib tips were cooked with mushrooms and grilled vegetables, but the serving was almost exclusively meat. The rib eye was cooked exactly to the medium which I requested. The ranch fries would have been better if they had been cooked a little shorter time, something I almost never say. We have been to the Stockyard Restaurant during the Covid 19 outbreak and there were signs at the entrance, encouraging people to social distance. Some booths were not in use, to allow for space between different parties and we saw tables being sanitized between seatings. Standing specials: Thursday Night - Chicken Fried Steak
or Chicken Fried Chicken
