PBS Kansas Museum & Children's Education Center - Wichita, Kansas KPTS, PBS Kansas Channel 8 in Wichita, Kansas is the home of two unique attractions, the Bonavia Foundation PBS Kansas Museum and the adjacent Cochener-Garvey Children's Education & Discovery Center. Both are free and open to the public from 10 AM to 4 PM weekdays, except for special events. The PBS Kansas Museum was added when KPTS moved into this new studio late 2022. The exhibits tell the 50 plus year history of Wichita's Channel 8 with a a timeline of the station, exhibits, vintage cameras and other broadcast equipment. It also displays a private collection of Sesame Street's Cookie Monster memorabilia. The Children's Education & Discovery Center is believed to be the first of its kind at a Public Television station. It includes interactive stations relating to weather, construction, engineering, transportation, farming, reading and media. There is even a maker space where kids can 3D print something to take home. The center targets those 2-10 years old and their families, but kids of all ages can have fun and benefit from visiting. Both the museum and Discovery Center have free admission.
