Remembering the Sacrifice of Those Who Have Defended Us, Honoring The Courage of Those Defending Us Today! Newton, Kansas was the home of the two day Wings of Remembrance Fly-In on the first weekend in June, each year.. In 2004 Wings of Remembrance celebrated the 60th anniversary of D-Day and the 60th Anniversary of the Newton Airport's service to the United States. The 2005 air show celebrated the 60th anniversary of the conclusion of World War 2. The 2006 show added a great many WW2 Reenactors and the staging of a mock battle between US and German soldiers. In addition to food vendors, there are various booths with aviation memorabilia for sale. One of the most popular features of the weekend is the opportunity to ride in one of these great war birds for a nominal fee. There has been no Wings of Remembrance since 2010.
