Gearhead Curios occupies a 1939 Texaco gas station on Historic Route 66 in Galena, Kansas. They offer Route 66 curios, artwork, cold drinks and welcome travelers on the Mother Road to stop and share their stories.

Aaron Perry began restoration of the old service station in 2018 and new things have been done every time we have visited. The work has been creative and include an American flag made from antique Kansas license plates, a 22 foot "Man who wears the Star," nicknamed Big A, and an awning above the gas pump island made from car hoods. One of their newest additions is a functioning rest room which has become a popular place for photo opportunities. About the only thing I see missing is a classic pop machine modified to sell sodas today.

Aaron was working in Topeka, Kansas when he purchased the gas station, but has since retired and has moved nearby. Improvements have accelerated now that he lives nearby.
