The only change which we noticed was that sine in customers are now seated and receive regular service rather than the counter service in February.

We had a short end of ribs, smash burger, fries and onion rings. I was impressed with the Royal Double hamburger, which two patties on american cheese, pickles, grilled onion, smash sauce on a Martin's potato bun. It was an excellent tasting burger, possibly worthy of our Kansas Best Burgers list. The flattened burgers were just the right size, but seemed a little small for $12 with no sides or pickle. 

There was no mustard on the table, so I used the Yellow Brick Road, a Carolina style mustard BBQ sauce, which worked pretty well.

The French fries and onion rings were both cold when served. The onion rings were good enough to still be pretty good. The fries are seasoned, reminiscent of the fries Joe's KC. They didn't stand up as well cold.

Royal Double

Unlike most Kansas City area BBQ restaurants, short ends of pork ribs are less expensive than long (only a dollar difference). The ribs were a little tougher and less flavorful than I prefer, but still good. The thick fries were quite good for previously frozen.

Salsa music videos were playing on many screens, which was fun. but made it hard to have a conversation.

We had the $15 shrimp fries (fried shrimp on a bed of French fries and topped with a spicy mayonnaise) and the $28 shrimp seafood tower. We enjoyed the shrimp more than the fries, most of which we left on the plate.

The seafood tower was a shrimp, scallop, surimi, ceviche, octopus tower with 4 large shell on shrimp in the side. It came with the choice of red sauce, green sauce, of habanero mango sauce. I went with the mango, and it took only a dab to add flavor and heat to a bite. Very nice!
